Anything for some sleep...
So Jacob has been sleeping through the night for the past week or so now. Its wonderful! However, he has now decided that he doesn't want to nap. He fights like a mad man as soon as I even think about puting him down. He can read my mind! I really blame it all on the fact that I believe he's teething. Poor little thing seems downright miserable sometimes. Nothing seems to help either..tylenol, baby oragel, teething rings...nothing. Yesterday he napped from about 12:30-4. Sounds pretty good, right? Except for the fact that he woke up about 6 times during that period. And its not that he doesn't need naps now that he's sleeping longer at night. You can see how tired his droopy little eyes are. So today I once again tried to get him to nap. And once again, seemed to be failing. I was just about to give up and go for a ride, thinking he may get a breif snooze in the car. But then his heavy eyes began to shut...and he quickly drifted off to sleep. Finally! I left him in his bouncy chair on the kitchen table not wanting to do anything to disturb him. Was this too good to be true? YES, it was. 10 minutes later he was up again. So for my last attempt I brought Mr. no-snoozies into my room, proping him up on my pillow (trying to make him as comfy as possible despite the fact that this is a forbidden act) and lay down next to him. I gently rubbed his nose until he was soon asleep again. Then the wonderful baby "startle" reflexes kicked in...hands flying up in the air, binky shooting across the bed, jolting him from his unattainable slumber. YOU WILL SLEEP, BABY! I retrieved the pasifier plopping it back in baby's mouth, holding it in place with one hand. The other hand I placed across baby's arms, gently holding them down. And there I lay, in that same position, for the next hour and a half...all in the name of sleep.
